Women in Aersopace (WIA) Presentation– March 17

We are honored and pleased to announce a special presentation on March 17th on Women in Aerospace (WIA). Sam Segall, WIA President, and Sandy Coleman, Board Chair, will be visiting from Washington DC. Women in Aerospace (WIA) is dedicated to expanding women’s opportunities for leadership and increasing their visibility in the aerospace community. Membership — women and men — shares an interest in a broad spectrum of aerospace issues, including human space flight, aviation, remote sensing, satellite communications, robotic space exploration, and the policy issues surrounding these fields.

NASA Langley leadership has expressed interest in initiating a local chapter next year, so this is an opportunity to learn more about this exciting organization. Please join us next Thursday, 2pm, PYT,

Contractors Steering Council Meeting – February 17

The next NASA Langley Contractors Steering Council meeting will be February 17 at 2:00 PM in the PYT.  Lang Nguyen, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for Technology Hampton Roads (THR ), Duncan McIver, Marketing Committee Chair, and Jan Griffen, Membership Committee Chair will be presenting an overview of “New Initiatives”.  The overview of what THR is (including its ‘transformation’ in the past year from Hampton Roads Technology Council), what it does, and “Intel Supply – Plugging the Brain Drain.”  In addition, details regarding the incubator/relationship with NIA and a new initiative they have started called “Innovate for Profit” (IFP).

Happy New Year! To kick off our program for 2011, we are pleased and honored to have the following speakers at our next meeting, 2pm, Thu, Jan 20th, PYT.

Dr. Ajay Kumar will give an update on his Directorate, Systems Analysis and Concepts

Amber Agee-DeHart, Program Manager for the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS), will present VASTS program update.

Donna Lawson will give a last minute update on Aerospace Day in Richmond.

December Holiday Luncheon Cancelled

Ginny Wycoff, Randy Manning, Bo Walkley and I extend best wishes to you during this Holiday Season.

Due to everyone’s busy schedules at this time of year, we will not have our scheduled holiday lunch next week. We look forward to seeing you 2pm Thu, January 20th, for our next scheduled mtg.

Contractors Steering Council Meeting – November 18

Our next Contractors Steering Council meeting will be Thursday, November 18th, at 2:00 in the Pearl Young Theater, Building #1202.

Kasia Grzelkowski, President/CEO of The Arc of the Virginia Peninsula, accompanied by Paul Babcock, Senior Vice President, will present their work related to persons with disabilities including their Government Contracts.

Janet E. Sellars, LaRC’s EEO Director, will provide a short overview of our the Center’s services to the committee which is intended to open up the dialogue and foster continued positive working relationships and assistance from the EEO office.

In addition, Donna Lawson will provide an update on the 2011 NASA Aero Day in Richmond.
