Susan McClain, Director of NASA LaRC’s Office of Procurement, requested that the following information, issued by the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force on November 10, 2021, be shared with LaRC Contractors Steering Council members.
On November 10, the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force published an amended deadline for the Federal contractor vaccination requirement in Executive Order 14042, Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, align with the deadline in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rule and the OSHA COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Emergency Temporary Standard. Federal contractor employees covered under the requirements of the E.O. will now need to be fully vaccinated by January 18, 2022 (instead of the previous compliance date of December 8, 2021). Although the date for full vaccination among covered contractor employees has been moved out by approximately six weeks, there has been no change to the effective dates in E.O.
The Task Force is working on updating the dates in the guidance and the FAQs but this change is pending a Federal register notice and other internal processes before the site can be updated. Once the site is updated with the new guidance document and FAQs, there will be a “NEW” tag on the site indicating the changes. The Task Force guidance, pursuant to Executive Order 14042 for Federal contractors, can be found here:

This guidance is referenced in NASA’s PCD 21-03A, NFS Contract Clause 52.223-99, “Ensuring Adequate COVID-19 Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors.” Contractor leadership should reach out to contracting officers and CORs with questions regarding this change.
