George Finelli, Director, Center Operations Directorate, will be presenting an overview of his organization as well as, LaRC\u2019s NewTown GSA Project\/Administration Building.<\/p>\n
In addition:\u00a0 Donna Blake, Community Development Director, Victory Family YMCA and Allison Brown, Membership Director will give a presentation on the Victory Family YMCA.<\/p>\n

The YMCA is making a difference in our community and individual lives every day.\u00a0 The Victory Family YMCA is located in close proximity to NASA\u2019s Langley Research Center and is a community resource actively utilized by a number of our contractor employees and Civil Service personnel.\u00a0 For example, LaRC employee involvement, Dr. Tom Pinelli received special recognition this year from the YMCA for his leadership role with the STAR Achievers Academy.\u00a0 Star Achievers Academy is a carefully integrated program of academics, technology, athletics, and life skills, which builds the self confidence, academic skills, motivation, and discipline children must have to succeed in school and to become productive, responsible citizens. It reaches out to \u201cchildren in the middle\u201d to give them hope for the future, keep them excited and successful in school, and to prepare them for tomorrow’s workforce.\u00a0 From the contractor perspective, SGT\u2019s Christine Matthews is a member of the Board of Directors and has actively engaged all members of the LITES team in supporting efforts of the Victory Family YMCA since early 2010.\u00a0 This presentation will enhance your understanding of the YMCA\u2019s focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.\u00a0 You will gain an understanding of the volunteer opportunities, resources available to improve the health and well-being of your employees and their families, and the programs available for elders, families and youth.\u00a0 This community asset truly offers a wealth of benefits for our most valued resource \u2013 our employees.<\/p>\n
